I can smell Spring...

Well, actually, I can't. I have anosmia. But I can see the first daffodil is out by our wall, the birdsong I hear is chirpier, the afternoon light is longer and stronger and there are green shoots on the unidentified twisty thing in the garden. I can't wait to get out into the woods and collect inspiration for a new season of paintings, last Spring's artwork was some of my favourite and I'm excited to create more. In between teaching I have lots of painting time in March and April, and then it gets busy with exhibitions, art fairs, holidays, art trails and that's just May....

In the meantime I am painting Autumn still, Winter has passed me by as largely uninspiring, but also the light hasn't been very good. Next year I plan to be in another country for January...I miss the sun!

Teaching starts in earnest again this weekend too. I am teaching Portraits In Acrylic at JoeDaisy Studio, then Portraits in Oil the following weekend. Whilst I don't paint as many portraits as I used to, it is my favourite subject to teach. Although, having said that, I am teaching a Spring Landscape Week at the end of April to coincide with the bluebells which I am super-excited about! In fact there are still a couple of places available, check out JoeDaisy Studio www.joedaisy.co.uk if you fancy a full five days of teaching, extra studio time, painting outdoors and learning how to paint exciting and colourful spring landscapes.
