I love the layers, shapes, colours and tangling of foliage and flowers. I was first inspired to paint flowers during a visit to Monet's Garden in Giverny, particularly how the flowers silhouetted against the pond. Since then I have included a dramatic interpretation by using a black backdrop to make the flowers pop.
Four of these paintings made it through 'preselection' for the Society of Botanical Artists Exhibition 'Plantae' at Mall Galleries, London, sadly coronavirus has put any further progress on hold.
